Hello,
My Dad is after a monitor for browsing etc. absolutely no gaming.

I think 27" is the sweat spot for him, he currently has a 1080p and a 1440p, he's used my 4k and had the scaling at 200%, given this is he better off with a native 1440p or a 4k with scaling?

and, any budget recommendations?

Cheers

4k 200% scaling = effectively 1080p
If he uses any programs that are older/compatibility issues with scaling then 1440p no scaling would be superior.
Or get him a bigger 4k monitor so he can use it without scaling

Thanks for the response, I did get him a 48" OLED (same as mine) and he moaned it was too big!!! (can't win sometimes )

How far does he sit from the screen? I found I was turning my head more with a 27" at arms length. I use a 24.5" 1080p for reference.

"standard" distance, may be a arm and a half? He currently has a 27" and a 28" so he's fine with the size, it's just one of them is starting to fail, it's very old and the picture is dim etc.

at standard distances, personally i'd rather get a 1440p 27 inch monitor, than a 4k 28 inch monitor at 200% scaling
