Hi guys, till I get my watercooling sorted I'm happy running my 2700k at stock on the intel fan/heatsink. I am however worried about my temps even at idle. I have installed the cooler a couple of times to make sure I heard all four push pins click but the cpu still idles at 46-48 over the four cores!

This does seem high and I'm sure it will improve a little once I have better cooling but was wondering what other 2700k users get with their intel stock cooling??

well just reseated the hsf again with mx2 tim and now idle at 42-44 but only 5 runs of intel burn test on standard stress got temps to hit 73-79

Check the voltages and fan RPM, this doesn't sound right. Is the fan connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard and are settings in BIOS allowing it to manage its speed ?

yep fan is connected to the header and you can hear it spinning up when the temp hits the 70's. Heatsink is definitely fitted correctly too

just enabled the eist in bios and set the cpu fan to max speed rather than variable and idle temps are now 27-30 with intel burn test hitting 63-70
