Hey guys, first post here so forgive me if this is on the wrong board - had a look at the main board and thought this was most appropriate.

I've been having issues with my 2700k when overclocking. I increased the multiplier itself until the clock speed was at 4.1Ghz. From research, my CPU should be able to handle this with no problems. Except, when I run P95 my CPU temps quickly hit about 80 degrees after about 10 minutes. Now, I know that 80 isn't exactly bad, but I know that I shouldn't run it at that temp for too long.
I am cooling it with a Corsair H50 that I bought a few years back and replaced the stock fan with a Noctua pressure optimised fan.
I'm not entirely sure if this is normal or not and have some here to ask if that's the case.
I have some Arctic silver 5 laying around that I could use as when I bought the 2700k they had none in stock and had to stick with stock TIM.
I also have some ArctiClean and some coffee filters laying around so that I could re-apply the thermal compound.
I'm wondering if AS5 has an expiration date or something as I'm not sure if the silver will oxidise and won't work very effectively.
I'm also very scared about actually replacing the TIM because I don't want to fry the CPU or break it :(
I am going to buy a new case this week and want to know if I should buy more Thermal Compound

I know that it's a lot to read, so I'll post a tl;dr

Is 80 degrees on a 2700k @ 4.1Ghz with a H50 too high?
Can someone give me tips with re-applying thermal paste on a 2700k? (Should I take it out the socket or just be REALLY careful?)
Can I use this AS5 even though it's been in my draw for about 6 months?

Thanks for your replies and any help :)

Sweet, how would I go about removing the current thermal paste? Should I take it out of the socket or should I leave it in?
If I do remove it, where do I put it? Should I hold it?
I don't want to destroy anything :s

I'd remove it just in case you get any Isopropyl alcohol rub (the stuff you should use to wipe the old paste off) on the motherboard. Hold it by the edge of the chip, don't worry just don't drop it lol :p

Are there any pins I should worry about with the 2700k?
I tried to look that one up and I can't tell by any pictures - I don't think there are
Also, I don't have any rubbing alcohol, only the ArctiClean :/

Arcticlean will be fine, Intel CPU's don't have pins, just try not to touch the bottom of the chip although if your hands are clean and dry it shouldn't matter much.

yay for naturally sweaty palms :(
Thank you very much, good sire :) You have enlisted confidence in me - I will try to remember this for when I move cases this week
Hopefully I can apply the AIO water block correctly and end up with some better temperatures - I'm also going to fix the air flow in my new case considering this case has no exhaust...

My palms are always sweaty as well! Awkward when you have to make handshakes!

I'm fitting my new PC together this weekend with an AIO water block too. Good luck chap!
