My 2700k runs at 4.6, with 4x4gb of sammy green at 2133 so I don't want to upgrade my platform, but what are the chances of getting a 3770k that does 4.6 on sensible volts??

I'm running crossfire on z77 so the extra PCIe bandwidth might come in useful as well at some point right...

Thoughts??

I would keep the sandy. Minimal benefits dont outweigh the chances of getting a bad chip let alone the cost difference. Is the 2600k not enough for your current needs?

moving to 3770k is abit pointless like every 1 has pointed out.. but if u need new cpu to play with.. go ahead we all love shiney bits!

3770k potentially has a faster clock speed, more cache and hyper threading

Fixed, depends on the chip.

2700k also has hyper threading.

the 3700k has slightly more cache and less power consumption. its roughly a max of 10% faster than the 2700k(depending on overclock). Isit worth it for OP? probably not wait another year i'd say

another thing to note, most 3770k's run hotter than their sandy bridge brothers

as for the OP with your GPU usage , wait till BF4 is more mature the thing is a bugged mess at the moment. Wait till more drivers are released and mantle you will probably find your situation improves. also are you using Vsync ? i doubt you are but just in case turn that off.

for gaming there wont be much diff between the two chips

ive runs hotter and limits your oc (unless you cut the top off the cpu risking killing the chip)

sandy runs cooler/higher possible oc

swings and roundabouts really

yes,due to hyperthreading on the 2600k

games like the crysis series and bf series benefit from that, 4 physical cores and 4 virual cores vs just 4 physical cores on the 2500k

Op is running xfire gpu's though. With this and ht turned of the game becomes a stuttering mess.
