So I decided it was time to squeeze some more juice out of this thing since it's holding my 3080 back.

Guides were saying most chips could do an all core 4.2Ghz around 1.35V, and AMD recommends to not go over 1.4V for 24/7 usage.

So it turns out my chip is a dog and I can only get 4.1GHz at 1.375, but no mas. I decide that I'd rather have the higher single core boosts I was getting on auto and sack it off.

THEN, I notice that it's throwing 1.5V at my cpu according to CPU-Z when it's under load. That seems rather out of kilter with AMD's recommendations.

What's everyone else seeing with these chips on auto? Should I undervolt a bit or just leave it be?

its pretty normal for 2700x and single core boost, it wont be doing 1.5 all the time, its very small bursts and only 1 core in the CCX will be running at 4.3ghz 1.5volts. The problem is most software that reads voltages only polls once a second so will displaying it sticking at 1.5v for ages sometimes, especially if the core goes idle afterwards. If your worried you can try setting a offset in the bios, i managed around -0.125 to -0.1175 which was still stable.

Ah cheers. That was the highest I saw, but in prime it was still sustaining over 1.4V.

Sounds like I should still take those recommended limits seriously though.
