HEy, for us VR gamers, do you guys feel the 2700x or 8700k is better?

Im on a 4670k atm. was running stock 3.4, i've OCEd it today to 4ghz, will see if stable but my chip is quite crap.

anyway, with all the new oculus home and steam vr background processes, does the 8700k deal with all that background rubbish ok?

or is the 2700x a good option also?

does anyone here play fallout 4 vr? i feel like if the 2700x can power through that, it can power through anything but i cant find any becnhmarks.

The 8700k is the faster gaming cpu, by a small margin at stock clocks, so should be the better choice.

But currently the prices are ridiculous due to shortages, so I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.

If I was buying now it would be the 2700x, with the added bonus of being able to switch to Zen2 cpus next year - if they're any good - without having to change the motherboard too.

So once we Overclock, does the 8700k just destroy?

It depends on the game & resolution used :

Destroy would be too strong a word to use though.

This one shows how the 2080 Ti runs with the 2700x & 8700k :
