Built a mate of mine a rig with a 2700X and for the moment he's using the Wraith Spire cooler that came with it, On stock settings at idle the CPU hovers around 50'c, Tried swapping out the paste for some Thermal Grizzly stuff, Reseating the cooler, Lowering volts and still the temps are 50'c at idle with nothing running in the background.

Is the stock cooler simply that bad ?

EDIT

Nevermind, Apparently I'm blind, I didn't turn the lever all the way down on the cooler so it wasn't making proper contact......

Was going to ask if you're looking at the right temperature reading! The stock cooler is definitely decent enough.

I bet the OP cant wait for this thread to reach page 2, out of sight......out of mind and all that lot, but with you lot keep commenting on it, it keeps getting bumped back up to the top, who would do a thing like that :D

I almost killed myself once by bridging the connectors on the power switch of a pc before... And for all you young'uns.... AT power supplies ran the full 240v to the power switch... BZZZZZZT, Bang... and tripped the main breaker! :o

I've forgotten to plug the CPU fan in before does that count?

I doubt that anyone that's been building PC's for years has not done the same Rroff. Hands up in my case as well, have also forgotten to plug in any case fans as well............................yes, it was the same build :o
