2700x or 3600

Got myself a msi tomahawk max and 16gb of 3200mhz cl16.

What would you go for out of the 3600 and 2700x? Both ruffley the same price.

I like the idea of 8 cores but cant justify the 3700x just now, would you rather the 2 cores or better ipc?

It's a 1080ti but at 4k, I thought the extra cores might come in handy but i guess by the time they do a 8 or 12 core will be a lot cheaper anyway.

Yup, I saw it in your signature. Well, 4K has that quality to camouflage any CPU prowess differences, so better take the one with more cores.
Also, weaker graphics cards at 1080p tend to do the same - camouflage or decrease the CPU differences to extremely small.

Yeh that's my thinking, that's what's making it a tough choice also the ram is a big factor, really not wanting to run it slower than it should be.

Yeh it's not like I don't know the pros and cons, was just wondering what people would go for and why.

Wish I could justify the 3700x but 33% more cores for ~60% more money just doesnt make sence to me.

Looks like I will grab a 3600 now and upgrade it later.
Thinking when the new consoles come out 8 cores will be advantageous.

8 or more cores next year.

Just need to be mindful that the 4000 might not be be on AM4

If it isn't there are still plenty upgrade options on this gen.

I ended up grabbing a 3600x as it was a good deal. Really happy with it so far.
Havnt had a amd cpu since a socket 754? 3700 15 years ago.

Yep , will upgrade to 8+ cores when they are needed and cheaper.
All without changing my motherboard too........what a time to be alive
