Hi all, looking for a PC upgrade for a work machine for folding @ home.

Got a 40 gig ide hd to use for o/s, got a case, dvd r/w.

so need mobo ( with onboard graphics ) and can take a ide hd to put os on, cpu, cpu cooling, ram ( 1 gig - no more ).
Unsure about the psu as its approx 3 years old and rated at 350w generic.

for no more than £275 plus vat
is this possible

thats well under, would be looking c2d then but does that mobo have onboard graphics as I can't tell

any good for overclocking?

The motherboard has onboard graphics and not great for overclocking, it is one of the limitations of almost all mATX motherboards, since they are designed for limited space environments generally overclocking isn't of a high priority I don't think. If you want overclockability then this is within the £275 but not including VAT, I'm guessing you will claim it back through work.

your thoughts please, also is the retail intel cooler any good for overclocking
and you are correct on the vat
also forgive my thickness but is the OCUK ram at 800mhz ok for a 1066 fsb chip?

The retail cooler is good for a moderate overclock I believe, it is difficult to give exact figures but somewhere around 2.8ghz should be achievable with a bit of luck, possibly higher but it does very much depend on individual components.

The Ram is fine for the CPU, it will work without any problems. :)
