Right, as we speak, I am waiting on this weeks credit card payment clearing to purchase a GTX280, and would like to know.........

Apart from bundled games, are there any variations in what comes with various makes of 280?
For example, do they all have power adaptors (my PSU is possessed of 2x6pins, I assume I need 1 or 2 8pins for this bad boy), do they all come with the same output adaptors (DVI-VGA, DVI-HDMI etc)? Any cool gizmos come with certain models? (BFG still doing T-shirts? I could stretch to the bottom end BFG).

I'm looking at the lower end of the price range here...leadtek, gainward and so on......so y'know, if you just bought a £400 quid one that came with a free hard drive or something......hold your counsel and tempt me not into expensive purchases.

My leadtek arrived with:

DVI to HDMI adaptor
DVI to 15pin adaptor (i think)
2 x 6pin to 1 x 8pin adaptor
2 x molex to 1 x 6pin adaptor
A game (neverwind nights 2 or something)
Drivers cd
And the card of course :)

Got the Gainward.

Comes with:

Video out dongle
DVI/ HDMI adaptor
Driver disc

WHO CARES!!! :D

It goes like a stabbed rat.

Download these:

Then install 177.89 over the top:

Install this:

http://www.gainward.net/support/XPRT_64.zip

Job done. :D

Never understood why people who can afford the fastest high end graphics cards even care what the bundle is. If you can afford the card, a game and a couple of stickers and adaptors should not be a problem :D

Well, got round to install mine tonight... not happy, :(

Ive unfortunatey got a used one, sticker ripped on the anti static bag, and even worse has a deep scratch on the cooler. :(

Ive sent a webnote anyway.

And this is why I asked......the Gainward is useless to me, as it has no power adaptors so I will not be buying a Gainward.
THAT's why I asked the question.....so I would know if some brands were no use unless you had a PSU with 8pin leads, or fancy buying extra bits with it.

Looking like the Leadtek then really.

The Gainward does come with the power adaptor.

I have an Antec Quattro 850W with all the neccessaries so you can have my adaptor if you need it mate :D

Dashed decent of you old chap, but when the time comes it'll be the BFG or the Leadtek I think......had gainward pain a few years ago, at the time though, their support was REALLY excellent, folks seem to think it's not anymore.

Anyway, just goes to show that a thread like this is only worthwhile if eejits don't post incorrect info on it (like the Gainward comes with no adaptors). The thing about "if you can afford a card, why care about a cheap adaptor" is the silliest comment I ever seen, the more I think about it. If you can afford a £600,000 Mclaran F1, is it silly to worry about £5 of petrol. It wont go without the petrol, ny new 280 wont go without an adaptor.

think i'm heading for one of the BFG 280's. Is the OCX worth it? or could I just overclock a standard one to those speeds (or near enough), as it saves a few notes.

Take a look at the 280 and 260 overclock thread. You can overclock then to the ocx speeds easily.
