280mm vs 360mm radiator

I have recently changed by water kit from CPU only 280mm (Black ice sr1) to CPU+GPU to 360mm (xspc ex360) did I make the right decision on the rad change.

CPU is 4690 and gpu is evga 780 ac sc.

Definitely you've gained 4000 square mm in surface area as well as having a much better choice as fans that are suited to a rad as 140mm fans are generally pretty poor in terms of static pressure

It's only really a 10% increase in surface area, not sure there's be much in it with similar fans.

I'm using noctua 120mm on the 360mm vs akasa apache 140mm on the 280mm.

Yes on both counts. Higher heat dissipation capacity and better fans to choose from.

Definitely better choice to go for 360, would be best if you can do a push/pull configuration.
If you are worried about noise, then try slower fans.
