My gaming PC keeps crashing during benchmarks such as unigine heaven and valley.

They are both Asus R9 280X DCU II TOP cards

The rest of the specifications:

i5 3570k
P8Z77-V PRO
8GB Vengeance
Corsair H100
1TB Hard Drive x 2
CX750M PSU

I had two gtx 670s in sli before i upgraded and they were no problems

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have tried both card individually on Unigine Heaven and Valley. Both cards crash through the benchmark, sometimes a black screen appears during the benchmark but it disappears and the benchmark carries on but inevitably during the benchmark it completely crashes, although one card does appear to do it less.

I also tried my old GTX 670 Power Edition and that had no issues when benchmarking.

Before I bought the two cards I tested them out on the sellers PC, I ran Fur-mark on each card individually for for several minutes and they ran perfectly fine.

What can the problem be?

Just a quick update:

I've carried out all of the suggested steps. I have removed the old drivers and reinstalled the latest 14.4 drivers. I have updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest provided by ASUS. After this, I have tried to run the benchmark again with the card that was crashing more frequently. The situation is the same, with the first attempt lasting just a couple of seconds before crashing. The second attempt was a little better however black screens appeared for the most demanding sections of the Heaven Benchmark.

The thing which concerns me most is that the cards perform differently in the sense that one crashes more so than the other. One card can complete the benchmark and crashed once in 4 attempts of the Heaven benchmark. The other cannot endure even 1 attempt.

Another quick update. I've increased the voltage to the cards ever so slightly and it seems as though it has improved their reliability. I have both cards running together now and they can perform benchmarks sometimes without crashing.

Also to note is that I've been hit by many error messages including direct x 11 and driver issues. Also, it seems that if I under clock the card slightly they run smooth, however the clock speeds are less than that stated on the box of the cards.

Both cards are Used but were 3 months old.

Could the problem be due to my PSU not having enough power to run the cards properly under load as I was reading an article written on guru3D, my PSU is a Corsair CX750M.

This is Guru3D's generic power supply recommendation for the R7 and R9 series:

AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.

AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

Is there any way I can test if my power supply is at fault?
