Hello, what would be an acceptable upgrade from this setup without breaking the bank.

i love the idea of a 980ti, but would feel so guilty spending that on a card when i could take my daughter shopping with that silly amount of money.

r9 390?

Sorry forgot to add why i want to change, i'm sick of having my case open to stop overheating and i'm sick of waiting for crossfire drivers months after games are released.

dying light was the final straw

980ti or fury x would be the best option. A 390 would likely be slower than your current setup.

I've just got rid of my two 280X's for a 980Ti and I'd say it's definitely worth the money.

Sell the two you have and you should claw back a decent amount of money to soften the blow!

I went from 7970 xfire (same as 280x) to a 980Ti and it was defnately worth the upgrade. Unfortunately, you aren't going to get a big performance jump without spending a lot now that the 290x deals have gone.

Only upgrade from 380x crossifre would be a 980ti everything else will be worse

I'd struggle to call it an upgrade. But essentially your only single card options for coming close to your current performance are the Ti or Fury X. Just moved from a pair of 7970 myself ;D

I upgrade from a CF HD7950(1050/1250) to a R9 390 (1110/1730)

In games with CF the performance was very similar(in some I get a bit more performance and in other I lost a bit)

In the games without CF or with very poor CF the performance deference was massive.

Obviously it was lot more quieter.

Also the input lag was reduced in most games games.

And I am not longer limited from the 3GB at 2560x1440.

A 980tiFury X would cost you about £300-£350 taking into account £200 for you old cards. The performance will be about 10-15% higher I think.

Also consider a Fury Pro/390X/980 card since these would cost between £150-£230 overall after your old cards sale and you will get a quieter single card with about 80% the performance of a 980ti(i.e equivalent performance to your current setup, although a Fury pro will be a bit faster)
One of these will be best bang for buck at 1080P.

If you can find somewhere to sell them!

I've just gone from a 7990 - which is equivalent to 280x cf to an R9 295x2. It's noticeably a lot faster.

It has better performance than the titan x and fury x for much less money. No brainer.

290x crossfire performs better than a 295x2 though so how does that work?

guess i'll have to save a lot longer and get a 980ti as i want more than 4gb.

one of my cards has cosmetic damage, i got it dirt cheap as the guy had shortened it.

damn it i hope i can get this sorted before fallout4

I went from a 7950 tri-fire to a single 290p and i'm not disappointed with the result, although tri-fire was way overkill for me anyway.

i knew it would be a downgrade but its not as bad as i thought it would be.
