280X - Quick Question

My rig is a modest one with an ivy bridge I3 and 7850 2gb card.

Im really tempted with the epic front page deal on the MSI 280X,

I just want opinions on wether my CPU will hold it back, do you think it will be a good upgrade even though I have a pretty budget CPU?

I built my son a machine last year, nowt special. It had an i3, 8 gig or RAM and an Asus Z77 board with on-board graphics.

He recently bought himself a Gigabyte R9 280x.

I don't recon the i3 is up for serious gaming so I swapped out my i5 3570K for his i3 3220.

His machine is pretty good now and he tells me his PC is very good at handling top end games now.

I am no expert but it maybe worth your while to upgrade you CPU before the GPU or if the money allows upgrade them both.
