I'm considering buying a second hand Asus R9 280X DirectCU II which was used for mining at the beginning of the year, for roughly 2-3 months.

I don't know if it was undervolted or OCed, I'm just wondering if mining for the period I've mentioned can affect the card's performance in gaming now and if there's a chance its lifespan was reduced to less than 3 years (it currently has 28 more months of warranty).

Thank you

Performance wouldn't degrade and while you could argue lifespan may be shortened with 28 months warranty I would feel very secure about it.

Pfft if anything cards that have mined constantly have had a better life

Consistent temps no major heat cycles etc consistent loads etc

Got a pair of ex mining 280xs both of which are fine

Yeah, cards that have been used for mining are fine IF they didn't run really hot.

EG: a car with 20k motorway miles had an easier life than a car with 10k miles that was mainly used in the city.
