what ram will do this speed?

I am currently using G skill Hz and this runs at 265 mhz ok

But this is limiting me somewhat running 1:1 with my opty 170

Is crucial ballistix the only choice for these speeds?

Reading some reviews about the mushkin it seems only the redline are doing 280 mhz and this is out of budget.

Are the other mushkins as good?
eg, not the redline ones?

all the googling is bringing up the redline stuff

BTW thanks people:)

OcUK still have stock of the 2x1Gb modules I believe, but if they die Crucial will give you 4x512mb which is pretty pants.

Well I aint getting them then :(

That is so pants its unreal!

What about

Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) CAS3

280 mhz attainable?

^ That kit is under-rated and not many people talk about it, but I think it's quality RAM for a good price. 280Mhz shouldn't be a problem. Should overclock well, but not with the timings as tight as they would be with redlines.

OCZ 2GB PC4000 Dual Channel Platinum Series EB (MY-058-OC) have slightly better timings though.

just been reading a review about the OCZ 2GB PC4000 Dual Channel Platinum Series :

" The maximum frequency they were stable at with the relaxed 3-4-4-10 timings was 275MHz (550MHz DDR). :(

I want 560 mhz DDR

I'm not sure whether the black mushkins will go any higher, but redlines certainly will. Your other bet is the Gskill pc4000, I think I read about someone hitting 280...hmm not sure.

I have them already the G skill Hz !

TBH they are great but I'm just short of running 1:1 at speeds in my sig. :)

just throwing my hat in the ring :)

i have pc4000 ballistix ram (2x512 tho) and so far they are fine running 280mhz @ 2.5-3-3-8

havent taken them above 285 tho (CPU still gives up there :( )

as far as the warranty goes, if you have 2x1gb kits and it fails, they CANT give you 4x512 as a replacement if you refuse. if they ask why, beyond the obvious fact that you paid for 2x1GB sticks you could also just say you are running 4x1GB in there and obviously therefore need another 2 sticks of 1GB ram. either that, or a refund.

personally, ballistix kicks booty! :D just a shame micron cant sort out the flaw in the design of the 2gig kits :(

going on that you are right. If I pay for 2 x 1 gig etc..

I think i might take a chance and buy the ballistix!
