290 comparison please for DOOM

hey guys,

I have finally got around to playing another game other than CS GO

DOOM!! What I would like to know is I toned down the settings from ultra to medium at 1080p. as ultra was unplayable but getting lows of 65-70 FPS and averaging around 85-95 on medium (still looks awesome!).

is that ok frame rates for my XFX 290? if someone running the same (or similar) GPU can chip in would be great!

also, the CPU (4670K) and GPU are both at stock speeds, no OCing as of yet.

sorry about the bore with FPS , but I'm a FPS whore tbh, as much as I annoy myself with it

loads of benchmarks for doom just google . many will be at 1080 see what you get.

If you have not tired it yet give Vulkan a go instead of openGL, you should get nice fps increase with a AMD card.

(Settings > Advanced > Graphics API)

problem, I went into settings and changed to Vulkan, it kicked me out of DOOM and when I try and launch now, it goes to 55% download then DOOM becomes available and when I try opening again, its like groundhog day

can someone please guide me how to resolve this.

Obviously something up there. You definitely want Vulkan with AMD as you will get a massive boost.

my mistake, I had not updated the latest drivers, getting around 15-20 FPS more now in DOOM. thanks guys.

Overclock the gpu and cpu and you can push quite a bit more still out of it.
