What fan profiles do you guys have on the 290, i will have one on Tuesday.

290 fan profile

Varies. I have a very quiet fan profile in which i run stock and accept a bit of throttling. Generally it doesn't throttle but sometimes it will though the core rarely drops below 925mhz so you don't lose much performance at all.
I also have a slightly more aggressive and louder fan profile which i use which stops all throttling at the clocks in the pics and keeps temps around 90c or under.
This is for two cards in crossfire. If you have just the one card its easier to keep things cooler and quieter.
I ran mine at 100% for a bit while the wife was talking to me to annoy her, kept the card lovely and cool playing bf4 
I found auto to be alright and i didn't notice any throttling, you'd probably have to sit and look at logs or benchmark to tell. And if you are benching your going to be using an aggressive fan profile or manually setting the speed anyway.

Mine is reasonably aggressive to avoid any throttling but I've never seen it above 80C/60%.
