No mate, a 390 is a slightly faster 290 with 8GB of VRAM. You can clock your card up to match a 290 easily

This. So basically if your going 1440p or 4k with games like Skyrim with loads of mods FOR EXAMPLE.

Best thing to do would be to replace it with a superior card, meaning you would have to go Nvidia. You would feel so much better knowing you had a Nvidia card and was supporting such a great company.

I've just got that itch... The 290 was only a stopgap between sli 780's and my next card... The 980 didn't wow me though. Looks like I may hold on for black friday and pick a Ti up...

Sell the 290 and get a 980Ti. Sorry but i had nothing but issues with mine, 980Ti was an incredible investment and glad I did!

Agreed a 980TI is your only real noticable upgrade at the moment. Buti dont think you will feel you got £500 worth of aditional power. I would wait for next gen tbh the 290 is still very capable.

no point in a 390 its just a 290 clocked a bit faster with bigger vram which unless your playing 1440 / 4k doesn't really matter and if you are 1 390 won't be powerful enough anyway.

fury / fury X / 980ti would be a decent upgrade.

Yeah as above, its just an overclocked 290, thats got 4GB more vram, unless you've got one of the 8GB 290s that were around of course
