Hey all.

Just a quick question. Is it worth going to a fury over a 290 at 1080p? I know someone selling a 5 month old fury for £180. I don't think I plan to upgrade the monitor for he next couple of years.

If you got money for selling the 290 then yeah it would be a decent jump for a small outlay. That's the non x 290 yeah?

If you was at 1440p I would say yes, I went from 290X to Fury and it performs better at 1440p than my 290X did

At 1080p your 290 will still be pushing decent minimum frame rates so unless you have a monitor upgrade planned I personally wouldn't bother with a Fury

Not really, That's a decent price on the Fury but I read that a lot of them have bad coil whine so that's one question I'd ask. And, you said in a later post that the 290 is not having performance issues so why bother? Just save your money for something later in the year.
I went from a 290x to a Fury and I am a lot happier with my Fury but if it wasn't for the fact that my MSI 290x Gaming was a POS that ran in the 90's under load the upgrade would have not been needed, I've recently moved to a higher res but I was on 1080p and the 290x's fps performance was fine as is your 290's. They're great 1080p cards.

It may seem cheap now but when the new cards launch your be gutted you spent the money.

The 290 is still OK for the time being. If it was me I would say right I am going to upgrade when either Nvidia or AMD release their next batch of cards.

I'm using a 970 atm. Been thinking about a 1070.... but I think if Nvidia will launch new cards in 2017, I might just wait until then. Also see what Vega is like.

290 is still plenty good enough for 60HZ 1080P with high/ultra settings, especially for dx 12/vulkan titles. Wait for next year GPUs.

1080p mah 290 is a real 1440p powerhouse it has served me extremely well am well surprised how its performed.
Take witcher 3 for example I went into this game expecting to drop a lot of setting or drop down the resolution. All I needed to do was turn off hair works and lower shadows to high I avg 50/60fps @1440p game is so smooth.
Same with every game I have played to date the 290 @1440p is a real performer.
