Hi guys

Cant seem to get my 290 Tri-X to go over 1040 on the core, i can get 1500 on the mem fine, not an issue, but as soon as i put the core over 1040 i get artifacts (giant multicolored stars) in Heaven Benchmark.

I have upped the power limit to +50 and also tried increasing the voltage +50mv and its still the same...

Do i have a dud card with regards to overclocking? or am i missing something?

It would be extremely unusual for stock to be stable but 50+mv to not allow any kind of increase at all (not even 10MHz?)

Have your tried a different overclocking utility? Have you tried leaving memory at stock while you work on the core? Do you get artifacts during other benchmarks / games? It sounds strange, but have you tried NOT increasing the voltage and increasing the clocks a little?

EDIT - also, can you check with GPU-Z that the voltage is actually increasing as you would expect it to?

I have tried just increasing the core without touching the mem, and i still get those coloured stars as soon as i go above 1040

Mem clock makes no diff to those artifacts it seems, i can run it at 1500 on the mem or the stock 1300 or anywhere in between and it makes no difference.

I have tried MSI afterburner, i have uninstalled that and now tried Sapphire Trixx and its still the same
