2900XT 1GB review

Well the HD2900XT has been seen to perform higher in some games than the 8800GTS.

And then the other way round. GTS 640 is on about par with the HD2900XT. Some games the GTS is better and others the 2900 is better. Which ever card you get their both going to offer great performance. You really should be deciding on other things now, price, heat output, power consummation etc..

Since their performance is very close to each other.

true, some games *** 2900xt wins, some the gts wins. There was a good article which ive lost the name off but it showed the which cards came first or second in each game and then added them all up and it was pretty even between the two.

Thats pretty much how it is. If i was going to choose between the HD2900XT and the GTS640, i would take into consideration how much power each card uses, their heat output, how good each cards drivers are depending on the O/S i will be using and the price.

Does the problem with Aniostropic Filtering or Anti Aliasing not working still exist with the latest drivers for the ATI 2900XT?

From what I gather the image quality isnt as good in comparison with Nvidia 8800 series correct?

Nvidia seems to come out on top concerning the Image quality. Reality though they are very similar.

If you had two computers set up, one system having the GTS 640 in and the other the HD2900XT, and compared based on Image Quality, i think it would be fairly difficult to say "oh yeah this one defiantly has the Nvidia GTS 640 in" or this one had the HD2900XT in.
