Sadly the 2900XT isnt competing against a standard 640MB GTS, its competing against an O/C GTS 640MB.

I really hope ATI do pull something out of the bag with driver updates.

At the moment Im leaning towards an o/c 640MB GTS, I see inno 3d do one clocked at 570Mhz core 1800Mhz ram

Hmm it mentioned that HIS intends to release a "Power up edition" with included 400W 5.25" graphics card PSU for only $35-$50 more... Interesting.

Thats a smart move as a lot of people just wont have a PSU capable of powering even a single 2900xt

yes continue silly rumours. pretty much any quality 500W psu can power a 2900xt system. frequently we've seen the 620w corsair and i think a few 500-550W psu's powering, what, yes quad core intel cpu's AND 8800gts sli setups.

1000w psu's are for e-penis.

unfortunately the psu makers aren't really catering for the 500-650W psu sector with everything you need, single rail, 8pin pci-e so people are being forced to buy 750W models, i mean its not surprising, psu makers want to sell more expensive items.

an extra 400W drive bay psu woudl enable almost any system to run crossfired 2900xt's fine so its a good way to do that.
there are a couple drive bay psu's used to boost power to a system now, thermaltake and i think FSP have versions and they've been out for ages. they don't have 8 pin pci-e versions out though which is a waste and they are around £40-50 for 300W's which isn't great value yet.

what makes you think you need a 750 just for a single card?

you just need two 6pin pci-e connectors aka a SLI psu is fine.

And four 6pin (quad psu) for two cards.
You only need 6+2pin addapters for Overdrive in ati CCC, appart from that it overclocks fine without overdrive

Woa easy tiger! Sure us enthusiasts have good quality 500W PSUs but I think its easy to forget that a lot of the others dont.

I thaught my 580W Hiper psu was considerd low spec

Im thinking of getting a new psu tho a quad addapter one and then buy a 2nd card

O.o
