hiya, assuming that all the 2900xt's are the same default card, bar except the 10mhz diff on some, is the rest of the package the same? does the asus come with more than the sapphire? Which one do people recomend?

Hope you can understand what i mean!? :D

Thanks

His, Sapphire, Asus etc.., they all come with blackbox, sapphire comes with 3DMark 06, but apart from that, they are pretty much the same.

As stated the cards & extras are very similar so it comes down to price & warranty. That being said of the cards currently in stock i would buy the Sapphire card due to a £234.99 inc vat price & 2yr Warranty (cheapest price & same as OcUK card, but has longer warranty). Or if you feel you may hold onto the card longer, the HIS card for a little more to get the 3yr Warranty.

There the same card, bought at the factory, then they take them away and slap there sticker and cooler all over it, OC it ( if it's an OC'ed one )

Am i right in thinkin that ?!?

Aye :D.

It would be better if they were licensed to do things to the cards though so there were hardware differences in models. I'm day dreaming again :p.

That would be mad, they could phone up and say
" i want this memory on the card and i want with a yellow PCB board, yer
50,000 of them "

That would be MADNESS !!

Madness that us consumers would love though :) .

My PC would end up looking psychedelic.

Stoners would come from all over just to sit around my groovy PC and talk about how cars are damaging the ozone layer and that trees should be hugged. :D

yer....... any way........... :p

Aye - A bit off topic.

So Sherm?. I take it your getting a X2900 then?. What overclock have you got on that X2 4600?.

Yeah, been thinking about getting one since they came out, just been waiting to see how they develope with drivers etc. Think they are getting there now as they seem to be getting better with each release of the drivers.

As for clocking my 4600, it was clocked, but recently moved house and been fiddling with a few bits so currently back to stock. Not really gone that far with it before though as i am not the best clocker in the world, just don't seem to ever get the time to spend doing and testing it. Was running at 2.6 though. Guess i could get a lot more from it?

Kinda hoping that the 2900xt will give my machine enough poke to play the crysis's of this world until i decide to either wait and see what amd bring out, or get an intel chip....

So the Sapphire comes with a full copy of 2006??

thanks for your replies guys.

I suppose that would cause too much confusion within the ati brand and make 'compatible driver' creation a nightmare.

As far as I'm aware, some of the "better" brands doing the 2900XT also come with a cooling system that has 3 heat pipes rather than the regular ones which only have 2.

Does no-one else have the MSI version??? I seem to be the only one with it.....

Im having a couple of small instability issues with the 2900. The blue bars at the top of windows programs get filled with random black blocks, and I had a major error the other day which it asked me to report to ATI. Anyone else had any problems like this??
