2900XT or 640GTS?

As said in the other thread
If you are/plan on using vista get the 2900, if you are using XP then a 640GTS.

Sounds to me like the champ got a diff card from most other hd2900xt
owners. All the rest are pretty happy with what they got for the price but
according to him all games pretty much run crap if i were you i would
be looking at your pc and how its running not the card itself.

Not sure if its drivers in far cry but in the other 2 games there is the same
performance gap between the gtx and hd2900xt as there is between the
hd2900xt and gts. To me i think when the drivers are correct this diff will
be shown in most games making the hd2900xt a good card for the money.

I think he overhyped himself. If he brought a 8800gts he would see not much of a difference.

From what I can see I think if he bought an 8800GTS, he would still have the  in his sig next to it, I dont think its the HD2900XT thats causing the problems as everyone else is happy.

Id say if you want good performance now get either card...if you want it to get better get the 2900XT, as they have had only one official driver since release and Nvidia have had 6 Mths worth. If it wasnt for ATI releasing the R600 all you 8800 owners would still be here waiting for decent drivers now.

yeah yeah whatever, all the people that say they are happy with the card at the moment are either in denial or AMD fanboys. There's nothing wrong with my water cooled PC, everything is running as it should and this card is the bottleneck I'm afraid.

If I got a 640MB GTS at least Counterstrike Source would be running at a solid frame rate with full settings at 1920 x 1200 on a HDR map, which it can't handle.
Games like WOW and NFS Carbon shouldn't struggle on this card at full settings yet it seems that my X1900XT was faster, Oh and I'd certaintly notice the difference in the noise and temperature level, I just can't be arsed to waste more money on a water block and an extra radiator to water cool this thing as it'll soon be shelved unless drivers improve it.
