Seems to be that the card is crap...as are the drivers. Honestly I wish the card was better as I wanted to try out ATI since I've never owned an ATI card....but I'm not going to buy something that will give shoddy image quality and low framerates.

so i should maybe wait? or just go with nvidia?
i cant beleive ati has messed up they took long enough to develop the dam thing , how can a card that took so long with atis history , and use more power! than the nvidia , cant understand it !
what is the biggest prob with the ati?

Just get an 8800GTS 640MB, you won't regret it. :)

The 2900XT has really inconsistent performance at the moment, probably due to drivers, and it seems that the horrendous image quality issues are "working as intended" because AMD/ATI designed the card with future shading etc. in mind. At least that's what I get from recent press release statement by AMD.

lol how the hell can ati state that the card crap images are suppose to be like that , so does this mean the ati will run crysis great but every other game ****? lol

There is so much negativity about the new ATI cards because they were a massive disappointment.

People were waiting for ages, hoping this thing would blow the 8800GTX away, but it doesnt even come close to doing that yet.

Depends on if Crysis uses shader-based antialiasing, and I've not heard anything to support that myself, but in current games it definitely means that the antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are dire.

AMD seems to be saying in the press release that it's "working as intended," which I consider absolutely crazy. So at the moment with the 2900XT it looks like your choices are no AA or terrible image quality and performance. :(

P.S. I'd edit out the sweary before it gets spotted by the mods.

Unless you need a card urgently wait a few weeks and see what performance boost the ATi card gets. I think the performance could be great once some issues are sorted out at the software level.

I've been with ATi ever since the 9800 era, and I bought my first nVidia card last week (8800GTS 640mb).... can't say I've regretted it one bit! :D
Aye the 8800GTS 640MB is my first Nvidia graphics card since the 6800 Series, and I'm still blown away even though I've had it since early February. I can't wait to see what G90 brings to the table now as it can only get better.

I have the same problem, building my younger sister an e6600 based system, but cant decide on graphics card, looking for something around the the £260 mark. & yes she is a gamer.

I had always been an Ati fan until I got my GTX, but between the 2900 & GTS which would it be???
