Hi

I will be buying a 2900xt as soon as i get some money, which should be soon! and was wondering what sort of psu would i need?? Since the power consumption is a lot more than other cards would a corsair 520W be enough?

The spec of my computer will roughly be:
Q6600/E6600 (havnt decided yet)
2 or 4gb Ram (depends how much money i have at the time)
2900xt

Thanks

I can't believe they advertise 750W monsters on the back - what possible benefit does it give to ATI to claim this?

You only have one PCI-E plugged in  ?
LOL, no. You have to have 2 PCIe connectors plugged into the card for it to work, it just won't boot otherwise.

My PSU only has one 6 pin PCIe connector with it as standard, I had to buy an adaptor for two molex connectors to create the secondary PCIe connector.

Yeah even though they use a lot more power than the 8800 GTX a Corsair 520w will power it fine, cracking PSU's those. :)

From my tests the HD2900XT uses around 10w more than the GTX hardly a lot of power

Could I just add a few questions too please.

1. Would an enermax 600w be up to it?

2. Would it be up for doing crossfire? (or is 750w min)

3. I have 2 6-pin pcie connectors on mine, but can ya buy 8-pin adp's for the 2900's? (for oc options in ccc)

Sorry for the highjack, but didnt think I needed to start a new thread about this.

Lol there was no need to bring gtx into this thread was about x2900xt
and his psu not how the gtx uses less at load. Thats how to many threads
go to gtx/gts vs xt and i think we have enough of them atm.
