Getting a weird problem with a new 2900XT 512mb silent heatpipe

I've tried reseating...

current spec of the kit is:
ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe s939
AMD Athlon64 4800 x2
1gb ballistix pc4000 500mhz
580Watt modular hiper

1 long beep 3 short beeps

there are 2 power connectors, only connected the 6 prong ... dunno if im supposed to connect the otherone as well.....

will try with a different power connector

any ideas peeps?


ok update: tried old gfx card and it posts fine

but the new card back in and it still beeps

got a feeling its not the power but the fact the gfx card isnt all the wya in due to fact the chipset is right under it...

new computer needed me thinks lol

time for a massive upgrade....its been 2 years :)
 
Your meant to also plug in 2 connectors. basically a minimum of 2x 6 pin connetors (the 6 pin fit into the 8 pin sockets). The 8 pin are apparently only used for 'official' overclocking with catalyst.

Yeah, you need two connectors on there. Starting with the end of the card, you plug in a 6pin cable, then you leave two pins free on the next connector then connect another 6pin, if that makes sense.
