I just got this card today and I've got a few questions. The card is running at around 64c idle. Sometimes it can get to around 75c on load. Is this normal?

Also what is a good program to monitor the temperature, Rivatuner is a little annoying considering I need the program open to monitor the temperature. Also, the card is almost silent, the fan doesn't seem to be noisy at all so I was wondering if there was an application I could use to turn it up a notch.

Thanks

Yeah that's normal.

AMD GPU Clock Tool

You want to make the fan louder?? Well, if so the only thing I know off is Rivatuner.

Thanks, also another thing I've got a problem with. The card is crashing, at least 3 times to day. The screen just locks up and reboots, what could be the problem?

ATi Tool crashes the card mostly, is this because of bad compatibility with the R600?

In that case it shouldn't be, good PSU's those, and should be able to handle the 2900, im sure those are Crossfire certified, or SLi, one of the two.

You using ATI Tool 0.26 instead of 0.27 beta? 0.26 was a nightmare for me on my 2900XT and caused problems.

Hmm it sounds like the PSU but just seen the PSU you have hmm that is odd. Is your CPU overclock prime stable?

Hmm, I would have thought he would have got the VPU recover error message box up if the PSU wasn't supplying the juice. If it is the PSU however it must be some fault at hardware level with it rather than not enough juice because that PSU should be able to power that card.

Just had a quick chat to him over MSN. Apparantly using the 8 pin with the card the PSU won't power up the system but two 6 pins obviously do, and he also got a Power message in ATi Tool saying that the PSU wasn't supplying enough juice. Perhaps the PSU is faulty?, clearly it can't supply enough current somewhere.

I've had a quick chat with Tom and it seems that my PSU isn't playing nice. I'd like to overclock abit, not too much and run the 2900XT.

Just for information we decided to downclock my E6600 to default speeds/voltage and Ati tool has been finding max clock for about 20 minutes now. Longer than the 15 seconds I got previously. The CPU clock was the only thing I changed. What do you guys recommend?

Yeah it does sounds like it, if that PSU can't handle an overclock on the E6600 to 3Ghz and run a 2900XT then it's iffy. How long have you had the PSU? Maybe it's degraded and lost some of it's power from age. Might wanna check the voltage rails in the BIOS and see if they look dodgy / too low.

ATI Tool 0.27Beta 2 works pretty fine for me
obviusly I don't overclock, just see the temps.

ATI Tool seems to be working ok now. I've just got strange results from 3DMark 06.

Is 9824 a low score for my current system specs (sig)?

Looks about right. My mate gets about 11K with his system with a 3.2Ghz C2D. Seeing as anything from background processes to other system components can cause minor changes to score, about 10K doesnt look too bad. Make sure your card is set to performance in the ATI CCC before benchmarking too, as if you've left it on balanced/quality, this would lower your score.
