2900XT vs 8800GTX Image comparison.

I can't see any difference in the Deep Freeze one now. :)

EDIT: yes i can now, got them lined up better now, the hut in the bottom right still looks sharper on the GTX, about the only diff i can see though.

lol here we go again, :) just release the cards please god, its driving people literally mad. There is going to be a big influx of people sectioned this week due to this cards launch.
 
The small pole on the front of that hut on the left (the one behind) with the wire coming in also looks sharper on the GTX, those are the only 2x differences i can see, that and the sharper looking hut bottom right. :D
 
Jeez I can hardly see any difference, hats off to both companies. The IQ looks to be very very similar from that one screenshot. Perhaps one or two small things, but nothing that would make me go "The IQ is rubbish on either card" or "The IQ is better on the other card". Both are very good. :) Nothing as noticeable as the old days.

Will be nice to see more comparisons though. But for me, the difference is neglible.
 
Only difference I can see in the second shot are at the front of the airship. There is a bit more detail in the XT shot, the pole at the front is more visible.

Ok, finally updated. I've been staring at these for awhile. The Freeze image, the tin roof bottom RHS on the XT is kind of noisy. The AA is the same, this hill to top LHS is the same. The edges of the crates is the same.

On the canyon image, which is a lot bigger. The spike on the balloon is wrong on the GTX, but the GTX image is very slightly sharper. Put the two image pairs in a folder and flick between them, stop on the sharpest. It'll be the GTX, but the difference is so tiny its amazing.
 
On the PNG shots, there is ever ever ever so slightly clearer textures on the GTX for the monstor in the 2nd picture. And the GTX seems to apply better AA on the hut at the bottom left of the 1st picture. Thats the only differences I can notice and imo they are negligable. The IQ is fantastic on both of these. :)
 
Yeah, seems like the GTX is slighlty sharper with the textures but the XT has smoother edges, in particular the alpha edges (better super sampling?). Just look at the power lines in the deep freeze screens. Also if look at the airship in the other screenshot you'll see the tiny pole coming off the ballon is not rendered properley on the GTX because of the aliasing.

The only major difference I can see is the bunker showing in the bottom right of the deep freeze screenshots. The AF (or maybe the AA) seems to have gone **** up on the XT, looks way too jagged.
 
From what I can see, on the deep freeze shots the ATI version is a lot brighter which gives less banding of the sky but highlights the bunker in the bottom right more.


Does anyone eles notice this?
 
I'm agreeing with the majority here; the XT looks smoother and the GTX has sharper textures. My eyes actually hurt from trying to appreciate the difference. I can see that they are not quite identical, but I don't know which is objectively better.
 
Coming from a guy with an 8800GTS:
To me it looks like the ATI card has slightly better AA on the snow picture, the dome and other things are slightly less jagged, looks good :)
But really, let's wait until tommorow, for uncompressed stuff.
 
thats one frame we are picking the smallest of small details to tell the difference, if you notice that difference in an actual game then you clearly arnt human.

why not compare something worth comparing.
