This will probably seem a stupid question but im curious non the less. I have a 290 x on latest drivers, I am running the card at 1200mhz using trixx.

In gpuz whilst in game the core clock goes from 1200 down to 1100 sometimes lower and back up again, is it supposed to be dynamic like that ?

Im sure in GPUz when in game it used to show solid max clock

Am I being a numpty ? did the latest driver change something or is it just how the card is designed ?

Cheers Spence

On the latest beta drivers Power Play is not working correctly. Infact it has not been since 13.12. So if your clocking its throttling due to power play. Role back drivers all should be fine again.

As 8pack says, powertune bug. Present in all 14.X drivers. Its fine if you keep your overclock to 1100/1400 or lower but any higher will throttle. Use 13.12 WHQL or earlier drivers to get around the issue until AMD release a new WHQL in April.
