290x's underclocking with volts?

Is anyone else having this problem?

It's like this when I use afterburner to overclock my cards with any extra volts the cards seem to downclock even though temps are fine( between 65-75c).im using afterburner to monitor during heaven and 3dmark.

I can get the core to about 1080 without extra volts but as soon as I add any they downclock to about 930mhz, is there any way to solve this.
 
Ive found that I can under volt both of mine by -45mV on both core and aux voltage. Its a mystery why they have such high volts at stock tbh
 
Using 14.6 but was the same with 14.4 as well.these cards aren't supposed to throttle until they hit 94c is this correct as mine get to about 75c and with voltage increase start to downclock on the core.
 
I'm getting a similar issue with my 290's now that they're in my main rig.
13.12 or 14.6, clockspeeds fluctuate all over the place when OC'd with voltage and it's not any kind of temp related throttling given that they're under water and temps are fine.

On top of that, if I use trixx, it'll bluescreen if I even dare to just set the core(s) to 1250 with one or two cards, yet I could happily bench away with up to three of them @1250+ in another machine.

I think this is a Valley bench at a paltry 1125/1250 for example:

Petey does it still occur if you untick extend overclocking limits (AFAIK this does nothing on Hawaii anyway) and if you turn off unofficial overclocking mode and set it to disabled. Those are the only differences on settings we have and i get no throttling during a Valley run.

Not much different, though the second card is pretty solid. Mine would look the same as yours at those clocks.

Whoops! Sorry mate, I got distractions all over the place here and only unticked 'extend overclocking limits' without doing the other two things...

Seems to be fine now :) Let's see if they can clock properly once again...

New island, new rules... :rolleyes:

Anyway, that's sorted me out. Haven't tried more than 1235/+200 in trixx so far and the clocks are holding properly with increased scores to go with it. Hope that sorts out the OP too :)
