295x2 and Non-Xfire games

Hi, if a game is non-xfire and not supported by drivers. Is it possible to diable one of the GPUs in CCC like you would for a standard xfire setup?

The 295x2 is like having 2xR9-290Xs so it can be disabled in CCC.

You should be able to customize the game settings too, so disable crossfire for various profiles as required.

OK, great, I just remember reading issues people had with 7990s and not being able to disable the 2nd GPU and wanted to make sure the 295x2 wasnt the same..

You can't disable crossfire on the 295x2. I tried and failed.

There's a little check box in the drivers that says something along the lines of

'Enable Crossfire for unsupported games'

Just uncheck that and it'll only ever use both GPU's when there is a Crossfire profile in the drivers.

If there IS a crossfire profile, you can turn off Crossfire in the Catalyst control centre, but you can't out and out disable one of the GPU's

You can disable part of a 295x2? Thats news to me... I can't see any option to do that at all?

I thought it wasn't possible on the 295x2 hence why people with that card can't use FreeSync yet?

Hmmm, I was sure you can just untick Crossfire?!

Like I said, you can't disable a GPU though.

I have to admit I've not actually tried it myself, just going by what AMDMatt said in one of threads about the FreeSync drivers.

You can't disable CrossFire on the 295, but if you haven't disabled ulps via Afterburner/Trixx, AMD's zero core is in effect=second gpu is 'sleeping', if a title doesn't have a CrossFire profile, the second core doesn't kick in.
