295X2, How's my overclock ?

AMD Radeon R9 295X2 8GB - Overclocking
Using the Catalyst Control Centre to first increase the card's power threshold to 150 percent, we managed a core overclock of 9 percent, which gave us a maximum core speed of 1,109MHz. This is just short of the 1,120MHz we achieved with a single R9 290X, which is a decent result given that there are now two of them.

Our experience with memory overclocking was simply phenomenal, as the card was stable with the chips running at 1.65GHz (6.6GHz effective), which is a 32 percent increase over stock speeds – we only managed 5.6GHz on the stock R9 290X. Whether this is due to better memory chips, improved cooling or simply luck (or a combination) we cannot say, but it's an excellent result either way.

So I guess your overclocks decent of 1100/1400, you could maybe push the memory a bit higher depending on the temperatures :)

What memory is your card, Hynix or elpida? Im guessing the memory on the link I just said there reaching 1650mhz memory was Hynix, my Hynix 7950 memory clocks to 1600 but my elpida card only reaches 1400 memory

I got to 1100/1650 on mine and it was stable in benchmarks but after running a loop for 30 mins+ I did start to get some throttling so I run mine at 1050/1600 for normal usage with a slight undervolt.

Is there only 2 types of mem on these cards? I see a lot of people only get around 1400, then theres loads that get about 1700, then theres a few including one of mine that will do around 2000.

From what I know yes only Hynix and elpida I surely haven't heard of another for the 7950 series

Hynix memory on the 7950 clocks on average 1500 to 1600 at stock voltage which is 1.5v and at 1.65v can achieve around 1800 and if your lucky a bit higher or with water cooling even higher.

elpida memory hits a wall at 1400 and can be pushed to 1500 with more volts but the elpida memory stock voltage is 1.65v which is higher than Hynix stock voltage and it doesn't overclock as well.

For the r9 2xx series, the memory (If I remember correctly off the top of my head) the memory comes out of the factories 200mhz higher speed at the same voltage but yet again as before the Hynix clocks better.

Ofc though you can always get lucky and get a even better clocker that will clock higher at the same voltage just like a cpu, but the Hynix always way out clocks elpida and elpida always requires more volts to run even the stock speed the Hynix memory does
