295X2 poor performance in Valley; Cannot disable Crossfire

I'm having trouble trying to get my 295X2 to play ball regarding Crossfire: CCC offers me the button to turn off Crossfire but every time I select 'Apply' it goes back to the Crossfire enabled setting. The dual GPU setup does seem to be working in Unigine Heaven, but my Valley scores at 1080P of around 3800 seem to be consistent with a single 290X. Both GPUs are hitting the 70s celcius in Heaven and only about 60C in Valley, so perhaps CF is enabled but the graphics card is being bottlenecked in Valley? I'm only running a 2500K at stock for testing, but the CPU is barely going 10C above idle temps, so I don't think it's being maxed. Any ideas what could be going wrong here?
