The latest rumour mill seems to be that of a dual 290 PRO card. Considering a decent custom 290P can be had for around early 300's now, say 350 worst case. Lets double that as its a dual card, say 700 (i understand there are less components, only a single pcb, less power/vrm's etc) but just theoretically doubling the price anyway due to amd's R&D costs (again no idea how much these are just speculating) plus 100 for 'convenience' charge for being a single card and to cover any other costs left out and including a profit. My guess is a retail price in the uk of £799 (+mining inflation, shortage of supply inflation i cant see a true mass of these cards to market anyway, +price gouging, +possible lack of competition if gtx790 doesnt get out close to it)
Amd are not known in recent years to 'milk' their customers of every penny, they have some real competively priced and value for money products at the moment. I think they are going to price competively to see these fly off the shelves and give the gtx790 some pain, which for some time now seems like its been waiting in the shadows but nvidia have been waiting for amd's move. Which if the gtx790 has been ready to go, might turn out to be a mistake waiting for nvidia as they could have charged a real premium for this product earlier on the in year and would have had some months ahead of amd and limited the amount of people jumping amd on the first round of dual cards
So there is my personal prediction. The chances of grabbing one for £799 is very slim and possibly wishful thinking (thats a point anyone remember the 7990 retail / launch price??). I think probably and more likely closer to £900-£1000 to start off with at launch for the first month or two but i absolutely cannot see them going for more than £1000 as 'retail' price, unless they are 290x versions or have more cores enabled than a 290x, or have 16gb memory (2x8gb) very unlikely or if the factors i mentioned above have a massive influence
