Just got a 295x2 and after I install the latest drivers upon reboot I just get a black screen when the OS has booted.

Works just fine before I install the drivers.

DDU and than install stable drivers (not the beta). If you have installed the stable, than try out the beta.

EDIT

But first use the ATI/AMD unistaller, then reboot and after reboot use DDU.

AMD uninstaller should be totally unnessesary when using DDU. Ive never used AMD uninstaller other than 1 time and it nailed my raid drivers as well for my old fx990 platform. Which is why its not needed if you only need to completely remove your DisplayDriver. Atleast that is my honest opinion, others way be different.

gets to the windows loading screen then goes blank

Mine did that after the first time I installed one of the AMD drivers (might have been 14.4, might have been 14.6, can't remember). 3 of my screens were active and showed the mouse, but the main one that displays the user icons just showed black with no cursor. I pressed tab a couple of times, then pressed Enter and it logged on to a user, then logged off and the welcome screen was present and correct. Never, ever came back - only that very first boot after installing the drivers. Wrote it off as a weird issue with my weird setup and moved on. Might be worth a try on yours to see if you can log in?

I had the exact same thing with windows 7 and either the 7979 or 7990. Windows loading symbol displayed then black screen instead of desktop. Tried driver sweep and reinstalling drivers but no luck. Tried several different driver versions and no luck.

The solution for me was to use a clean install of windows 8.1 instead, it just forced my hand on the upgrade.

I had this and it was outputting to hdmi which was my tv that was on standby. My monitor connected with dvi went blank after the loading windows screen.
