Hey guys...i am going out of my mind on this one so any help would be great.

Took delivery of a new system:
"Ultima Vanquish" Intel Core i7 920 D0 2.66GHz @ 3.80GHz Quad Core DDR3

yet it will not start up giving me an error 2b on the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard.

i have Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply and ATI 5870 1024mb gfx

cheers guys

If i remember correctly "2B" is usually video initialisation. (i could be wrong here)

Is your GPU installed correctly? -Top PCIE x16 slot? All additional power connectors in? Tried reseating the card (the socket should latch onto the card if so)?

As its a prebuilt OCd system it will have been working (OC tested etc) when it was packed, so its possible something has become dislodged in transit.

EDIT: just checked the manual online and "2B" is the stage where it tries to initiallise the GPU's bios.

it looks like all is connected?

are there any options with the GPU bios?

seem really odds why it is just not working? i rang the tech support and they said there is nothing to be done but send it back! such a shame; such a waste of time and effort...let alone money

think i am just going to return and get a refund...stick to macs :(

cheers for all your help guys though! just got the nightmare of waiting for the DPD service to find me again ergghhh what a mess!

kind of a deafeatest attitude mate? Why not just send it back, let them fix the problem and then get on with it? Not everything works first time - you just got to roll with it. At least they are telling you to send it back to get it fixed rather than saying that it's tough ****

no i do agree and i do not blame OcUK **** happens; its just a pain with the delivery etc...i have to work crazy hours and my place is not the easiest to find/get into...to its just a MASSIVE hassle.

thing that i just find strange is that it was stamped Quality checked before dispatch...what could have caused it during delivery!? is it just a fault with gfx?

As i posted earlier it sounds like the gpu just isn't sat properly anymore, it porbably got a small knock in transit.

It would have been working when packed as they would have had it on in the warehouse to overclock and check stability before shipping it to you.

Have you tried simply removing and then re-seating the GPU?

Yeah i gave that a bash and no luck...i removed and replaced the Card (side point it is really big card...how things has changed since my last PC which was 9 yrs ago).

had a good look around as well whilst i was doing it and it all seems in place. Its annoying as i won't output anything to the new monitor as well.

You could try that, should also be a jumper on the board somewhere to reset the cmos, also try connecting the monitor to the gfx card via a vga adapter.

I wouldn't try anything in case you make things worse and/or invalidate the warranty by playing around with it. Leave it alone, wait for the courier to collect it, and leave OCUK to deal with it

This is what i did in the end! cheers for all the help though guys!

Hi, just a thought but is the gfx card connected up correctly to the right leads and the motherboard too? Leads could have moved in transit...
Chris
