My internet has been playing up recently and have tried my master socket which is only about 10 feet away and it seems stable.

Do I just have to live with it or is there anything I can do?

I would have thought that just 10 feet away wouldnt cause me such problems.

I could go wireless but I do a lot of online gaming, would that effect it much or are wireless signals good these days?

Thanks

Wireless is still bad for gaming, oh the nightmares i had with it..

Other people i play with though don't have much trouble though

Has it always been like this? Or just recently? Or is it a new install anyway?
Aaah... you op says recently so maybe the extension box has been damaged in some way. Its fairly cheap to change tbh, so i'd try that.

Although, i'd still consider going through the wall to your master socket. You'd only need a small 8mm max. hole. Not too sure what the child has to do with it. Unless he/she is small enough to fall in the hole...:p
Yo can always get a cable plug that stops little fingers from probing such holes in walls.

I mentioned the small child as I didnt really want to go through the wall, so the only option would have the wire going along the floor. Hence I didnt want to do so because I have a small child. :)

Yeah I guess the hole in the wall it is then. Its a shame as the phone socket is right next to my computer. Might need a longer LAN cable though now.

THanks for all your suggestions. Sounds like the hole and wall sound easiest and cheapest.

If you know how to krone down the wires in an extension socket you cold try that yourself. If its only happened recently it has to be something that's degraded inside either your cable from the master socket to the exension socket or the extension socket itself.
But still, i'd go for a small discreet hole personally. It means any future problems and your isp can't dodge out and say "oh, but you're not connected to a master socket, so kindly take a running jump....sir!" :)
