I need the 2d clock speed to be higher but i cant seem to change it ccc. Ive tried other programs like amd gpu but its outdated and dont support my graphics card.

Why u need higher 2d clocks? if PC needs more mhz of your GPU in 2D mode it will go higher automatically :)

Did you try MSI Afterburner ?

That will let you create a 2d & 3d profile for clock speeds afaik.

I tried MSI Afterburner and i checked gpu-z is this looking alright:

Is the default clock the 2d speed?
Have i got it to high should the 2d clock speed be the same as the 3d.

Edit: CCC is still reporting it as 157/300. But gpuz is reporting it with the above?

Do you have a 120hz lcd monitor by any chance? I've got a similar problem..

On my XP partition the screen flickers when I'm watching videos on youtube or in game, however on Win7 it doesn't but i still get stutter in game.

So far its alright now fingers crossed i fixed it.

Strange... which 5970 is it? Maybe try a BIOS update?
I know some of the Sapphire 5770s had a BIOS problem with 3D clocks, this could be a similiar problem.

xfx 5970 black edition.
If i run a game and put it into window mode and minimize it then it keeps the 3d settings so i guess thats what i have to do.
Bios update looks hard, im not quite sure how to do it.
