2dr Convertable buying advice - £2500 max

I'm not much for convertibles generally, but, were I after one, I think I'd far rather have an e36 convertible over an MG-TF tbh.

Imo,a far better built and a very good looking car, sure, they are getting on a bit these days but a clean tidy non-chavved example imo is still a nice car for the summer.

Something like a 318i?

Just a thought...... :)

E36 is a bigger car though and also far older looking (as it is) - having driven an e36 328 ragtop before I bought my coupe I wouldn't want to be driving anything less as even that felt quite lardy. I suppose it depends on performance expectations but the 328 would only keep up with any of the 3 smaller cars mentioned (unless looking at the 1.6 mx/mg) in a straight line, i reckon a 318 would be a step too far down the performance ladder for most people.

Does your brother's fiancée walk around upside down, wearing shoes on her hands, because everyone else walks on their feet?

Just buy the better car.

No, she doesn't.
However surely at the price they are looking to pay for a vehicle and the fact that anything they buy will probably just be "run into the ground" that going for the vehicle that she prefers the look of would be the better option?

I get that the MX5 is the better car. That I'm not going to argue about and a point I made to her. However she prefers the look of the MG.
I knew there was a HG issue but really wanted to know if that was the only main issue and that once repaired (well and correctly) if anything else was likely to pop-up.

If it was purely on "which is the better car" I don't think this requires a thread, or any ore than:
MX5 /end
It's just at the "lower cost" end of things, surely looks and prefered vehicle on looks alone needs to count for something?

Should buy whatever she actually likes, just go into it eyes open which it sounds like you're making sure is the case- no problem as far as i can see.
