2gb > 4gb ram upgrade - any difference on xp?

hi i currently have 2gb ram and with prices so cheap picked up another couple of sticks

i do plan to upgrade eventually at some stage which will benefit from the full 4gb but in the meantime i'm running standard xp pro and was wondering if the 4gb would be recognised and improve performance.

You'll see some improvement, but not as much as you would on Vista or 7.

Xp will only see 3GB of ram so you wont get full benifit from your 4GB, but 3GB is better than 2GB. and you could always upgrade to window 7 at a later date with that 4GB.

I see you got the Ballistix I upgraded my sapphire 939 I had 2Gb already. picked up 2 more sticks for £35, inserted them and bam mb broke :/ lol I do miss the lights .
Got 4 sticks of ddr Ballistix and a 3200 x2 2Ghz chip in my draw waiting to be sold to make up the overcost of my new system
