Hey i have a mate with 2gb and whats to know is it worth going to 4gb?

also is it ok to mix RAM he has OCZ but is intressed in blist or geil... i dunno why so am just askin for him.

i just got 4gb to not worry bout it again.

unless you are on a 64 bit OS (vista 64 or XP 64) then the OS won't pick up all 4 gig.

and to answer your question, you won't notice a difference, unless your RAM is ever being used up completely.

Depends. Does he use a 64 bit OS? If not then I wouldn't go for 4GB. 4GB is very cheap these days, I paid £100 for 2x2GB and you can get the OCZ kits for £73 now. Not sure about mixing kits. Aslong as they are the same speed they will be fine I think (slowest kit will make rest of ram run at the same speed).

ok cheers... he best leaveing it then he only on vista32...

... i figured coz i am doing Games design 4gb will be best for me tho right ;/ ?

or is it better going to 64bit?

Well with a 32bit OS you will see atleast 3GB (think it might be 3.25GB, but not 100%) so you will benefit still, especially as its so cheap.

When your using your computer does it run slow when your working? If not, then dont worry about getting more ram.

Check out task manager for your ram useage, if its near the max then upgrade :)

nope it dnt run to slow.. only wen rendering sum stuff ... anyone know wen the 9000 series comes out (off topic) sumone sed march?

In XP and Vista 32 you see up to 3.5GB.

I would say if on Vista 64 it is worth it, when I get crysis on with a cfg mod my memory usage goes up to about 70%+ with 4GB, the headroom is something good to have.

Im using 4 sticks, used to have 2 geil and 2 OCZ platinum edition. I had to change the timings and frequency in BIOS to get them both working together, but other than that I had no problems.

Now I have 4 sticks of Geil after trading with a mate and didnt have to mess about in BIOS at all with them, so its just a lot less hassel getting matching sets.

I'm using 2x Ballistix PC5300 and 2x GeIL PC6400 together at 1.8V or 1.9 @ 850Mhz 4-4-4-12, seems fine even though they are mixed.

my crysis seems to run smooth wen i had only 2gb.... settings on high...i dnt notice a diffrence with 4gb tbh there proberly is tho.

unfortunatly i only just started reading about clocking and voltage settings... :(

i have clocked a gfx card in the past with very basic knowledge but it was cheap this rig cost a bit more so gotta get it right ...

i have 4x1gb OCZ (plat..) i didnt mix ram on the, 'better safe than sorry' point.
