ive just upgraded my ram from 2gb to 8gb ddr2 800 mhz, but my 3d mark 06 had not gone up by much.

3d mark 06 with
1gb. about 13000
2gb,about 13900
4gb about 14000
8gb about 14100
ive thought my 3d mark would go up by a lot more.do you think that about right or not.thanks
pc specs
CPU: (Quad-Core)Intel® CoreT 2 Extreme QX6850 @ 3.00GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB 16X PCI Express
MEMORY: (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)8GB (4x2GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory

3Dmark06 will not take advantage of that much memory.

3Dmark06 was designed, as far as i'm aware, to use up to 2Gb so anything over that will show minimal improvements to your overall score. Which is why you see little improvement with your scores over 2Gb.

Basically, it's nothing to worry about.

Ok

Firstly I do hope you are using a 64bit OS.
Secondly 3dmark06 results are pretty meaningless, what application/game do you want to run faster?
Thirdly faster or lower latency ram or overclocking your CPU would improve your score if you ignore point 2.

Amount of memory will have negligible impact on such benchmarks, it's the speed and latency of the memory which is important.

In fact it would be perfectly plausible for 8GB to be slower than 2GB if it was running at higher latency or lower bus speed.
