2GB enough for 64 bit windows 7?

64 bit should not need more than 32 bit. It can just address more. Most apps run are 32 bit anyway. Win 7 is better optimised than XP so I would think with aero and a few bells and whistles turned low it should be OK.

I personally cant go back to 2gig unless its temporary of course.

Its just painfully slow to watch startup/shutdown times and even multi-tasking takes a noise dive.

4gig is where its at, but 6-8gig would be what id advise for very good performance.

I’m running with 8GB.

Doing anything useful I’m almost always using more than 2GB of memory.

Using normal productivity applications it’s rare to exceed 4GB.

If I wasn’t running virtual machines I’d be happy with 4GB, possibly 3GB, but wouldn’t go any lower.

If it’s a choice between having a flashy case or more memory I’d choose the memory every time.

I am running on 8gb now because i was able to pick a some memory cheap but before i was using 4gb and windows 64bit was doing alright with it, i would say it is pointless using less that 4gb on a 64bit machine, save some extra cash and upgrade to 4gb you will see how much different, but it is your choice at the end of the day....
