2GB Geil Overclock poor :(

I thought my geil 2gb 6400 ram wouldnt go past 460mhz (which is ok) at 5-5-5-15 with 2.1v. However then i realised it was my mobo that was limiting (which i dont think some people might realise is the problem). So i whacked up the (MCH) and (FSB) voltage in bios to +0.35 and +0.25 respectively and now have my ram running at 486mhz 5-5-5-15 with 2.225v. Stretching my 6300 to 3.4ghz :D

DS4 mobo with F7 bios for the record.

Congtrats Mr Mister on that 3.4ghz o/c :)

He said they're building 5+ systems a week for delivery to customers, all pre-overclocked and all using this RAM at 920MHz in an Abit AW9-Max

The post is here;

It's a very interesting thread as Gibbo says he did 1100MHz with this RAM at 1:1 but then later admits the motherboard he was using has a maximum FSB of 475 so it would appear it couldn't have done 1100 as 475 is only 950 at 1:1 :confused:

Well, he can gladly come and try mine.

Because I had another go at it simply will NOT go past 444 @ 4-4-4-12 @ 2.15V.

I tried 4:5 too @ 370-380 and still nowt.

So either he is lying or I have a bad pair.

14.157s is my best 1M time. But that was with an E6600 at 3.72GHz and the RAM was clocked at 3-3-4-9. The system was not Orthos stable, but it would run most other things quite happily.

Whats your best 1M super pi time. The lowest i have had was 15.9secs. Think that was at 3.6ghz (6300 btw) with the ram at 5-5-5-15 ddr1030.

Hi Mr Mister....with my E6600 @ 3.760ghz my PB was 13.5 :p and my E6300 @ 3.5ghz non tweaked run with firewall etc, running 16.3...so not bad....nice time btw :)

woah thats a nice time :cool: Your on water so probs gives you a bit more headroom. Im just using a Big Typhoon air cooler, although i think it is the ram or mobo that is holding the chip back still.

Yes, but according to Gibbo every pack of GeIL Ultra they've ever used to build up a machine in Stoke will do that speed with 4-4-4-12 timings. And the original advertising blurb they used on the site (now removed) talked about doing 1000-1100 (500-550FSB).

Mine seems to fail at that speed with 4-4-4-12 timings, only way i could stop it failing in orthos after a few seconds was to slacken the timings to 5-5-5-15. I never actually saw that, now I can't see it has its been removed LOL.
