Hello ewe guys,,could someone please explain,, if the AMD has 2 ghz system bus wouldnt that wipe the floor with any intel setup,,not sure what the specifics are re definition of system bus regards AMD but surely 2 gig of bus coupled with some well tweaked mem would be an awsome config for my bf2 woe`s,,,ive played top end systems that still struggle against the infamous few who i would now assume use AMD yet everyone carries on bout intel and thrown me of the scent for about a year,,so my conclusion unless someone puts me straight is that AMD are the ultimate gaming machine particularly for online games....specifically for BF2,,,HA,,,lol,,,thx time for my pills.

Hello guys,

Could someone please explain: if the AMD has 2ghz system bus wouldn't that wipe the floor with any intel setup? Not sure what the specifics are, i.e. definition of system bus regards AMD. But surely a 2ghz bus coupled with some well tweaked memory would be an awesome setup for my BF2 woes?

I've played top end systems that still struggle against the infamous few who I would now assume use AMD, yet everyone carries on bout intel and thrown me of the scent for about a year. So my conclusion, unless someone puts me straight, is that AMD are the ultimate gaming machine, particularly for online games, specifically for BF2.

Started fixing but lost you...

Try again?

EDIT: wait, still going... (Think that's the best I can do)

EDIT2: Bus speed isn't everything, CPU architecture and cache also come into the equation.

Back when the A64's first introduced themselves, thanks to Hyper Transport they were the best CPU's for gaming, and on the gaming side of things Phenom doesn't look half bad.

However don't judge a chip just on it's bus speed.

You can throw as much bandwidth around as you like, but that means squat if the hardware it's attached to is weak.

Core, for example, is very good at caching memory and accessing it efficiently. It's much better at that than AMD's Phenom and Athlon processors which can just throw more data around and distribute it better.

The architecture of a processor means much more than how fast it can get at RAM. Remember that.

AMD may have upto 2000mhz HT (HT is set to default 5x when I overclocked my Crosshair FSB High I hit 2000 even though many say 1250 is safe limit lol), but Intel also have a setting set to 5x in Bios. (cant remember name for it).

Edit: Booted into bios, its called LDT Freq and its 5x and some need lower it to 4 or even 3 when they hit high FSB like 2000mhz.

thx guys but i dont hear anything definitive,,lol,,ok the architecture and efficiency with the intel is better but nothing ever works at 100 percent efficiency ,yet when you have an abundance of fsb you can compromise a little with architecture and efficiency , show me where intel can out do amd in a gaming enviroment and iam not talking fools games iam talking the only game which is a sport really,,lol,,,BF2,, i want to know that if i came round for a game and put my street wise amd up against your oxford intel which would be better !,,i still tend to believe the 2 gig fsb will compete with the best of intel hands down!, even tho the architecture and efficiency of the intel is better....Thx guys i really do appreciate your input,,,love this site!

BTW, I am a AMD fan but the current Intels are far ahead (always owned AMD and did go AM2 but Crosshair fried).

You can stick your head in the sand and kid yourself on but Intel is the leader just now, I wish they werent.
