So i started saving late last year and my goal is to get to 2k late this year and then build a high end computer with some saving luck ^^
But i was wondering as i would really like to go high end this time as i normally just go the mid range section, is 2k going to be enough to get everything including things such as water cooling, monitor, mouse etc.. ?
Thanks for any info :)

you could get 2500K + 580 + 27'' 2560x1440 IPS 10bit panel hazro

seems pointless waiting for an all AMD system when intel spank em in the CPU dept and nvidia spank em in the single card benchmarks!

+1 to wait for BullDoser.

It might kick SB into the long-grass..

And a single monitor, single GPU gaming rig that runs modern games without issue can be bought for around £800 to £1200 quid. £2k would by you "bleeding edge" tech :-)

When you say late this year are you talking about 6 months down the line,

If so then it would be pointless speccing anything now as in 6 months new things will be out and prices will be different

im going to do the same in about 6 months when the new intel chips come out.....budgeting around 4k for it......2k will get you a lovely machine for a single monitor setup...i fancy 3 monitors this time though

£2K is a huge amount on a new build. Also keep in mind its depreciation.
£1K for me would get me everything I wanted on a system.

If it's not an immediate need, wait for Bulldozer. I expect it to be competitive with SB, and could also spring a nice surprise (like being real quick or cheaper). Sandybridge is where it's at atm. Great value for money for big performance.

IvyBridge will probably kick everything into touch again, but then it's a long way away.

There's no need to spend that sort of money, a system at half the price will do everything you need. The only thing the extra £1000 is good for is benchmark figures, that's a lot of cash to spend to have some satisfying numbers spat out of a program.

I'd punch myself in the nuts if the bulk of that money was spent on internal hardware tbh, extra £900 or so is stuff that's only gonna depreciate in value extremely quickly in the space of a year.

If its September time, then you will likely have a better view of the whole BD and Ivybridge landscape, allowing you to make an informed choice. Whether spending 2k on a build is something I would advocate, is a whole different question.
