Hi guys, looking for some advice on building a new gaming PC. I’m hoping to game at 1440p/144Hz and play a backlog of games I’ve been saving for a new build. Also Apex Legends...

I need almost everything, including monitor. The things I don’t need are SSD’s/HD’s, Windows licence, mouse and keyboard. A cheap case is fine as it will be tucked away under my desk. Was hoping to get everything for under £2000 but might be willing to stretch another couple of hundred pound if it would really be worth it.

How can I get biggest bang for my bucks?

Cheers!

pushing budget to max, rtx 2080 and 165hz g-sync 1440p monitor . Gigabyte board with UK RMA and i7 9700k . Corsair PSU , UK RMA and if it breaks its replaced with a brand new unit. Dark rock 4 to cool the CPU

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,006.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)

ITX + ryzen + vega = low costing, small footprint and great for 1440p gaming

Total: £1,525.58 (includes shipping: £14.70)

Oh forget to mention I have the Dark Rock Pro 4 so that would save me some cash. With the money saved there would it be worth looking at an i9? Ryzen not worth it?

if your just gaming and not streaming or doing video editing work etc, hard to justify the cost of i9 over i7. Threads doesn't add a big performance increase with gaming, physical cores and speed is often stronger / less heat.
also as you go up the resolution, intel's lead isn't as strong over AMD- but if your aiming to reach lowest possible min frame rate then it will always be intel ( for the time being), and used in every esport league because of the performance .

would switch the 550w psu to 650w as well if you've got the extra cash :)

ryzen is damn good price but x570 and ryzen 3000 is looming end of June

The gpu and Dark Rock Pro 4 won't fit in that case. You would be better off going with the R7 2700 or even R5 2600 and the monitor from Orbitals build to save some cash. I would personally swap out the board for the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon.
