2k spec me anything thread

Missed the doggy aspect :o

I picked the e38 because obviously I'm an enthusiast and he did say anything!! :D

Was the X-type available as an estate from launch? Or would estates be later and I assume out of budget? - quite fancy one myself one day, maybe.

I think they actually look pretty good tbh, always had a fondness of Ford's. Just wondering what the options are really, though ultimately I think the Mondeo has to win.

Just want to find one in a decent colour and with the best spec / condition / mileage for the money.

How thirsty are those 3 litre V6s btw?

Anything? You like luxobarges? £2k?

Well, I'd point you at an e38 7 series.
£2k will be bottom of the barrel, it will require work of some sort almost certainly, but you would most likely get a better e38 than an e39 imo at this end of the market.
You'll find £2k 728's that are not beyond saving, I would not like to imagine what a £2k 530 is like mind you!

I would expect a 2k e38 to be pretty immaculate! Bottom of the barrel ones are going for around £600 atm. I paid £700 for mine, 105,00 miles, 12 months mot, turned out to be a lot tidier than i expected, runs very well, only the 728i so is a bit gutless, but will glide along at 90 odd on the motorway. Also running a 540i, the 7 series is a lot nicer car to drive, and are also a lot cheaper. A mondeo would be a very dull choice, I would much rather run a 1k beemer than a 2k mondeo, and so long as we ignore the fuel (728i 25mpg and the 540 is about 19mpg) i cant see the mondeo being much cheaper to run as you have a friendly mechanic. be a man dont be dull. This forum is filled with mondeo obsessed people.

Very few 10+ year old cars are immaculate, so I wouldn't expect one to be just because its 2k.

Plus you can't fit a dog in one anyway and claiming a 10 to 15 year old 7 series costs a similar amount to run as a 2006 Ford is just a bit delusional.

Friend of mine gets no better than mid 20's with her 2.5v6
I imagine the 3.0 would be similar?
She's no Schumacher either....
